![]() It was a diagnosis that was a LONG time coming. Got my diagnosis from two different psychiatrists (one of whom didn’t even tell me I was diagnosed until I requested my medical records, and one that said that “I didn’t sound like I had borderline traits” until about a month later when he was like, “yep, you’re definitely borderline” LOL) and a psychologist. I’m assuming it’s because they were inpatient and not followed through an outside provider yet, but even when I was in an IOP, I was never diagnosed with BPD. It’s like it wasn’t a legitimate psych issue to them, just behavioral, so the patients would be diagnosed with Axis I disorders and would be sent to outpatient therapy without an Axis II diagnosis that was sometimes super obvious. ![]() Where are you from? I’ve worked on a voluntary inpatient mental health floor at my local hospital and the nurses and doctors loved to roll their eyes and get annoyed and call patients “SO borderline” if they displayed the slightest borderline trait (which always hurt me to hear LOL). ![]()
